BIOGRAPHY...

Rosa King and the Looters

In 1999 The Looters brought Rosa King, Amsterdam's Queen of Funk and Blues, to the US for her first ever tour of her home state of Georgia and the Carolinas. Venues included were Savannah Blues, The 40 Watt in Athens, Monkey Business in Hilton Head, and Atlanta's North Side Tavern. Joseph Layden also performed with Rosa and her regular band Upside Down at several large festivals in Europe and various venues in Amsterdam during the months beforehand in preparation for the tour. Unfortunately, Rosa King passed away directly after a performance to 80,000 people in Italy a few months after the American tour. Her influence and inspiration lives on through the music of The Looters, who continue to perform many of her original songs.
